Center for High Performance Computing .NPU signed the strategic cooperation agreement with MSEA International Institute for Materials Genome

On December 28, 2017, under the background of the National Strategy of Innovation-Driven Development issued by the State Council, Center for High Performance Computing .NPU (CHPC) signed the strategic cooperation agreement to establish Joint Innovation Center for High Performance Computation of Advanced with MSEA International Institute for Materials Genome (MSEA).

In order to accelerate the development of China's computing science, to achieve the goal of the National Strategy of Innovation-Driven Development, and to improve the core support capability of China's economic construction, national major engineering, basic science research and other scientific and technological fields, high performance computation peers alongside theory and physical experimentation, as be called by most the third scientific research method to understand and advance the world. Recently, the General Office of the State Council has issued some suggestions on deepening the integration of production and education, aiming at improving the tight union of industrial circles and universities, strengthening the docking of universities and industry organizations, doing well in the top level design of talent training standards, giving full play to the dual-subject role of universities and enterprises in cultivating talents, promoting the omni-directional integration of talent training supply side and industry demand side structural elements, promoting the "supply side structural reform" in the field of talent training.

Based on the key disciplines of computer science and technology, CHPC has formed the innovation research group of high performance computing application in space, aviation, navigation, materials and applied mathematics, and becomes the high level compound talent training base. At present, the total computing power exceeds 100 trillion times per second, and the storage capacity reaches 350TB, becoming a characteristic service platform on high performance computing and large data, cloud computing. The innovation research group is one of the main nodes in the second phase of ChinaGrid construction of Ministry of Education, and a supporting unit of "Shaanxi Cloud Computing Technology Engineering Research Center" as well.

In China, the new material industry is one of the seven strategic emerging industries and the "made in China 2025" ten key development areas. On August 15, 2017, MSEA was established in the TsingHua University Technology Incubator, the Emerging Industries Demonstrative Region, Gu'an, Hebei Province. MSEA is headed by Prof. Zhiqiang Feng, one member of the "Thousand Talents Program ". MSEA has adopted the enterprization operation pattern, cooperating with well-known universities at home and abroad, building an international materials genome research center. MSEA is committed to introducing the world's top material genome technologies to realize the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, which will generate a series of absolutely competitive industrial chains of the national economy and people's livelihood.

The two sides set up the joint innovation center, which will be closely related to industrial demand, through cooperation in production, learning and research, strengthening practice teaching, relying on the center to gather regional and industrial talents, and jointly promoting the training of innovative entrepreneurial talents, such as high-performance computing, cloud computing, materials calculation, etc. The strategic cooperation is aimed at improving the transformation of science research achievements, promoting academic exchanges, achieving to promote the development of industrialization development on bilateral innovation outcome and core technology. The mutual cooperation in production, learning and research is jointly enhanced through Joint Innovation Center for High Performance Computation of Advanced Materials.
